APN Opens a Branch in Palestine

APN has established and officially registered a new branch in Palestine in early July 2019. Mr. Ibrahim Manasra was appointed as APN's representative in Palestine due to his extensive experience in agricultural projects.

The Outcome of Jordanians’ Donations... Supporting 20 Villages and Planting More Than 20,000 Fruit-bearing Trees in Jerusalem

As part of the "Million Tree" program in Palestine, APN implemented the "Plant Your Resilience 2" project in partnership with Al-Nahda Rural Society and Hosna radio station, with the aim of planting 20 villages in occupied Jerusalem. A total of 21,798 fruit-bearing trees were planted on 1,092 dunams owned by 334 families that support more than 2,029 family members.

Razan Zuayter, Co-founder of APN, chaired the Executive Committee of the World People's Coalition on Food Sovereignty (PCFS) in Hong Kong, along with Sylvia Malari, President of the Asian Farmers Alliance. “If Only You Know” Campaign Continues to Raise Awareness About Environmental Risks among Youth

APN provided introductory sessions to groups of young people at the summer camp organized by the Yarmouk Scout Group (August 19, 2019). The sessions tackled the current environmental challenges in Jordan and the region. They are part of the “If Only You Know” campaign launched in 2012 to raise awareness around agricultural and environmental risks.

APN’s Annual Participation and Attendance in Souq Jara Bazaar

On a yearly basis, APN renews its participation in the Souq Jara bazaar that is held every summer in Jabal Amman (June 14 - September 13, 2019). More than 40 volunteers from different ages participated in the booth. Products designed by volunteers were sold and funds were raised to plant more than 370 fruit-bearing trees in Jordan and Palestine in support of the “Million Tree” and the “Green Caravan” programs.

284 Palestinian Farmers Have Been Supported as a Result of the “Trees of Life” Project

Through its 'Trees of Life' project in partnership with Bethlehem Farmers Association (June 2019), APN has reinforced the resilience of 284 farmers under the “Million Tree” program in Palestine. Farmers were able to plant their land with 12,200 fruit-bearing trees.

APN participated in the Hasbani-Wazzani River Conference organized by the Consultative Center for Studies and Documentation, held in Beirut, Lebanon (July 24, 2019). The conference discussed Lebanon's rights to the Hasbani-Wazzani waters as a tributary of the Jordan River and part of its basin. It also tackled the issues of conflict with Israel, developmental delays, environmental problems and climate change.

The Green Caravan reached the Fayhaa area of Madaba Governorate, southwest of the Jordanian capital Amman (July 28, 2019). The food security program was implemented by APN to aid Mrs. Ali in supporting her family after her husband's decease.

APN participated in a workshop held in Amman, sponsored by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). During this workshop, the Integrated Global Ecosystem Management Initiative was launched as part of the Global Green Fund project. APN stressed on the need to involve civil society organizations in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the initiative.
