ANFS, APN and their international partners organize the Global People's Summit on Food Systems Coinciding with the United Nations summit

In an exceptional event that witnessed wide interaction and participation by hundreds of elite and academic figures and agricultural organizations in the world. Arab Network for Food Sovereignty and The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature made important interventions during the Global People's Summit on Food Systems. The summit was organized by Peoples' Coalition on Food Sovereignty (PCFS) along with a group of international organizations, including APN and ANFS, over a period of three days (21-23 September 2021).

APN plants 5,200 trees in the Palestinian valleys with the support of Mrs. Reem Hejjawi

APN: Jordanians have the right to know the percentage of modified substances in consumer products

Razan Zuayter, Chair of the Board at the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature, stressed during a workshop to discuss the draft for the new biosafety law the right of Jordanian citizens to know the details of consumer materials. She denounced a proposal to declare the percentage of modified substances in manufactured products only if it reached 5% or more when the limit had been 1% before.

The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature meets with the president of the agricultural engineers association in response to the import of genetically modified substances

Zuayter stressed the need for the association’s stated attitudes to be based on consultations and dialogues with relevant parties working in the agricultural fields, emphasizing the importance of keeping the door to dialogue open for issues related to food security, hydroponics, and genetically modified substances.

The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature issues a declaration on “copper mining” in Dana

The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature demanded the accountability of the opposing parties in the case of copper mining in Dana and their prosecution, noting that the absence of facts and information about the case led to misleading citizens and different civil and local society forces, as well as causing the absence of a clear decision toward those projects. The group emphasised on the fact that the opposing parties’ disregard of the civil society in Dana is a grave mistake.

In her speech, Zuayter stressed the priority of having an agreement on a clear definition of sustainable investment, which is the main focus of the conference. According to her, it is based on three dimensions, an environmental dimension, a participatory social dimension, and an economic dimension. An integration between these three dimensions leads to a balance between the different classes of society and does not neglect helping the marginalized.

The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature Participates in a consultative meeting to discuss climate change policy in Jordan

The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature, represented by its Chairperson of the Scientific Committee Hassan Al Jaajaa, participated in the consultative meeting, which brought together several environmental organizations at the invitation of the Union of Environmental Associations, and in the presence of representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Environment, to discuss the draft modernization of climate change policy in Jordan.
