ANFS, APN and their international partners organize the Global People's Summit on Food Systems Coinciding with the United Nations summit

In an exceptional event that witnessed wide interaction and participation by hundreds of elite and academic figures and agricultural organizations in the world. Arab Network for Food Sovereignty and The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature made important interventions during the Global People's Summit on Food Systems. The summit was organized by Peoples' Coalition on Food Sovereignty (PCFS) along with a group of international organizations, including APN and ANFS, over a period of three days (21-23 September 2021).

APN plants 5,200 trees in the Palestinian valleys with the support of Mrs. Reem Hejjawi

The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN), along with the generous support of Mrs. Reem Hejjawi, planted 5200 seedless grape trees in the villages of Bardla, Nasriya and Faroush Beit Dajan of the Palestinian Valleys to support Palestinian farmers.

APN: Jordanians have the right to know the percentage of modified substances in consumer products

Razan Zuayter, Chair of the Board at the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature, stressed during a workshop to discuss the draft for the new biosafety law the right of Jordanian citizens to know the details of consumer materials. She denounced a proposal to declare the percentage of modified substances in manufactured products only if it reached 5% or more when the limit had been 1% before.

On World Food Day, Al Jaajaa discloses the threats facing international food security, and how it can be achieved

On World Food Day, October 16th,2021, the co-founding member of The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN), Eng.Hassan Al Jaajaa discussed the prominent environmental and health challenges facing food security in the world, specifically in the Arab Region, as well as the efforts made by countries and people to meet the basic needs of citizens. This took place during an interview conducted with Al Jaajaa by Al-Mayadeen Channel as part of Al-Sahia program on 17 October 2021.

Mariam Al Jaajaa, the general manager of The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature, was invited by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia. She participated as a speaker in the first session of the Commission's series of dialogues on social justice and food security policies in the Arab region. APN plants 1,000 trees on an area of 40 acres in a number of Palestinian Governantes

APN planted 1,000 fruitful trees covering an area of 40 dunums of agricultural land in the governorates of Ramallah, Nablus and Bethlehem, in support of Vivian Zoumot Diamond.

APN plants citrus in central Jordan valleys in partnership with STS PayOne

The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature’s Green Caravan arrived to Hawarat area in the central Jordan Valley. The APN’s volunteers planted hundreds of diverse trees of citrus and guava on the farmer’s land, Abdel Murat, with the support of STS PayOne, on Saturday, October 23, 2021. 

Arab Network for Food Sovereignty elects its executive committee for the new session (2021-2023)

The Public Authority elected members of the executive committee for the new session (2021-2023). The winners were as following: (Haidar Daqmak from Lebanon, Munjed Abu Jaish from Palestine, Razan Zuayter from Jordan, Hanada Sadat from Syria, Abbas Rahi from Iraq, Laith Ben Bishr from Tunisia, Abdullah Al-Balihi from Morocco, Abla Ahmed from Sudan, and Sayed Ahmed Obeid from Mauritania).

APN plants trees in SOS children's village in partnership with Al-Ahli Bank

In collaboration with the Global Campaign to Return to Palestine, APN launched the “Saned” campaign to save and restore the agricultural sector in Gaza, with the aim of supporting Palestinian farmers and helping them resume with their businesses and projects after incurring loses as a result of the latest aggression on Gaza

The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature meets with the president of the agricultural engineers association in response to the import of genetically modified substances

Zuayter stressed the need for the association’s stated attitudes to be based on consultations and dialogues with relevant parties working in the agricultural fields, emphasizing the importance of keeping the door to dialogue open for issues related to food security, hydroponics, and genetically modified substances.

APN in partnership with Zain plants 500 fruitful trees in the Jordan Valley Area

In partnership with Zain company, The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature replanted, as part of the Green Caravan program, 500 citrus trees on the land of the farmer Mahmoud Abu Halhil, in the Al-Mashaa area of the Northern valleys on October 26, 2021. His land was entirely burned five months ago.

APN builds an 80-meter water well for a Jerusalem farmer

APN built a water well with a capacity of 80 cubic meters in the village of Jabel Mukaber - Jerusalem for the benefit of a Jerusalemite farmer who is responsible of eight individuals, some of them students at universities and schools, with the support of Alfanar Group in partnership with Al-Nahda Rural Society,

The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature issues a declaration on “copper mining” in Dana

The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature demanded the accountability of the opposing parties in the case of copper mining in Dana and their prosecution, noting that the absence of facts and information about the case led to misleading citizens and different civil and local society forces, as well as causing the absence of a clear decision toward those projects. The group emphasised on the fact that the opposing parties’ disregard of the civil society in Dana is a grave mistake.

APN met with the National Committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in order to discuss a number of important files, foremost of which are the ongoing preparations for the IUCN World Environmental Conference, which are to be held next September in France.

The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature Launches Study on EU Funding Methodology for Syria Crisis

APN’s research and advocacy officer Elle Ambler presented a research paper titled “Centering Syria in the EU Funding Response to the Syrian Crisis” at an event held today by the CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE).

At the invitation of the Arab International Investor Forum... Zuayter: Agriculture and food security are two important dimensions in achieving sustainable investment

In her speech, Zuayter stressed the priority of having an agreement on a clear definition of sustainable investment, which is the main focus of the conference. According to her, it is based on three dimensions, an environmental dimension, a participatory social dimension, and an economic dimension. An integration between these three dimensions leads to a balance between the different classes of society and does not neglect helping the marginalized.

Bank of Jordan started partnership with APN to plant olives in Madaba

The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature’s Green Caravan arrived in Al-Fayha in Madaba, in a new step to promote the principle of food security and support farmers and planted 200 olive trees with the support of the Bank of Jordan. On 30 October 2021

The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature Participates in a consultative meeting to discuss climate change policy in Jordan

The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature, represented by its Chairperson of the Scientific Committee Hassan Al Jaajaa, participated in the consultative meeting, which brought together several environmental organizations at the invitation of the Union of Environmental Associations, and in the presence of representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Environment, to discuss the draft modernization of climate change policy in Jordan.
