The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature, represented by its president Razan Zuayter, met with with the president of the agricultural engineers association Abdul Hadi Al- Falahat to discuss various topics in the context of food security and the safety of imported food, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Amr- Secretary General of the association and Dr. Aktham Abu Khadija, the association’s representative on the Biosafety Committee (August 21, 2021).

Zuayter stressed the need for the association’s stated attitudes to be based on consultations and dialogues with relevant parties working in the agricultural fields, emphasizing the importance of keeping the door to dialogue open for issues related to food security, hydroponics, and genetically modified substances.

On his part, President Al-Falahat Confirmed the association’s opposition to allowing the import of modified substances, stressing the right of people to know the proportions of genetically modified substances in consumer products, pointing out that the association will work hard to raise awareness and unify civil society forces' issued statements towards the biosafety law.
