The Revive Gaza’s Farmland project, launched nine months ago, has cultivated 903 dunums of farmland across all regions of Gaza, planting diverse crops such as zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes, cauliflower, cucumbers, cabbage, and chard. Additionally, it rehabilitated 17 greenhouses. To date, the project has reached 422 farmers, who collectively support around 2,657 individuals.
Building on its initial success, APN expanded its activities to include new components such as poultry farming and providing fisherfolks with necessary equipment. These efforts aim to enhance food diversity and boost self-sufficiency for Gaza’s people.
In the face of unprecedented hunger rates and skyrocketing food prices, the project seeks to revitalize agricultural production at a minimal cost, instilling hope among Gazans. This practical step combats hunger and challenges the suffocating siege imposed by the occupation, which has restricted food imports since 7 October 2023. Moreover, the project has positively impacted food prices, leading to a gradual reduction in the cost of several vegetable varieties.
The project has garnered widespread support, with contributions from Arab and international organizations, as well as individual donors who believe that agriculture is the strategic solution to Gaza’s food crisis amidst the ongoing war.
Through this collective effort, the Revive Gaza’s Farmland project demonstrates that investing in agriculture is a lifeline under the weight of siege.
