Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN), funded by the Bank of Jordan, organized an activity on 2nd April 2016 to plant 250 lemon trees in Abu Obeida, Deir Alla, as part of APN’s Green Caravan program.

The event welcomed the participation of more than 50 volunteers from the “Ghair” initiative, staff from the Bank of Jordan, and the local community. The project aims at enhancing food security for underprivileged families in the region of Deir Alla.

Despite the fact that the Jordan Valley is one of the world’s most productive agricultural regions, producing diverse crops in different seasons of the year, the region is in need of more investment in the agricultural and livestock sectors. Mr. Humam Mufti, APN board member, thanked Bank of Jordan manager Mr. Shaker Fakhouri for their generous participation. The Green Caravan program moves from region to region within Jordan, to contribute to the greening of the country, particularly in marginalized areas, and aims to support food security by planting fruit trees. APN has succeeded in planting more than fifty thousand trees of different varieties in various regions and governorates of Jordan.   Follow the link below for more photos:
