Upon invitation from The International Network on Conflict and Fragility (INCAF) affiliated with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), APN General Manager, Mariam Al Jaajaa, delivered a strong message during the CSO Consultation on the draft “Report on the implementation, dissemination and continued relevance of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) Recommendation on the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus (Triple Nexus)”.

Four years since the adoption of the Triple Nexus to address the interconnections between its three components during times of conflict, Al Jaajaa emphasized that any shortcomings in its implementation should not be seen as a failure of the approach itself. Instead, it is a failure of human decency and civilization. She highlighted the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, where genocide is taking place through starvation and dehydration. Furthermore, she discussed the various tactics employed by the Israeli occupation that systematically dismantle the three components of the Triple Nexus. These tactics encompass the use of internationally prohibited weapons, obstructing the entry of humanitarian aid, targeting all forms of infrastructure, including energy and water facilities, and the demonstration of selective empathy by Western governments, where calling for a ceasefire proved challenging and even controversial for them.

Al Jaajaa also revealed how Western governments and corporations have orchestrated the approval for this genocide, overcoming ethical barriers to mass extermination. This involves dehumanizing and criminalizing Palestinians through the promotion of false media propaganda, as well as providing military and financial support to the Israeli occupation to continue these genocidal actions. Finally, Al Jaajaa underscored the resilience and determination of the Palestinians, but she noted that the Arab region will not recover from the hypocrisy practiced by most European and North American governments.
