His Excellency the Ambassador of Venezuela in Jordan, Omar Vielma Osuna, hosted a delegation of APN headed by the Chairperson of the Board Eng. Razan Zuayter and attended by the General Manager Mariam Al Jaajaa.

Ambassador Osuna heard a synopsis on the Million Tree Campaign in Palestine, the Green Caravan programme in Jordan, in addition to the food sovereignty programme concerned with impacting policies relating to environmental, agricultural, food and development issues at the international, regional and local level, and the ‘If Only You Knew’ programme aimed at spreading awareness among school and university students regarding environmental and agricultural topics in Jordan and the Arab region.

Ambassador Osuna expressed his interest in APN’s experience and work in supporting small farmers, and advocating for food sovereignty, while expressing an intention to invite a team from APN to visit Caracas.

He also alluded to the interest of the state of Venezuela in expanding cooperation with Arab and Muslims countries, which is something which president Nicolás Maduro focuses on.

APN emphasized the importance of solidarity between countries affected by the protracted food crises in Global South, particularly in our Arab region which is the biggest importer of wheat in the world. Moreover, APN outlined its work mechanism as a civil society organization which rejects conditional funding, and succeeded in proving that cumulative and continual work nearby the farmers whose lands are threatened by expropriation in Palestine, and the small farmers in marginalized locations in Jordan, is but the fruit of the efforts of the work team, the supporters, volunteers, partners, and advocates from all corners of the world.
