One million trees, the campaign of “Your tree protects them”

5 July 2022

Our fruitful trees, sponsored by the citizens and companies, to be planted within the campaign “Your tree protects them”, revives the soul of the heroic martyr Shireen Abu Akleh and all the other martyrs. In reality, at every location sought by the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN), we work as a single team to strengthen the steadfastness of the farmer, and reject the theft of our Palestinian lands and the displacement of our people. In effect, the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN) has confidence in the tree which protected the colleague of Shireen journalist Shatha Hanaisheh, and fed our brethren in all Palestinian territories. In the name of the martyr, we accomplished the third phase of the campaign in the Jenin governorate where she was martyred.

The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN) launched last May, in the wake of the crime of the murder of the martyred journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, the campaign “Your tree protects them” as a salute to the spirit of the martyr Shireen Abu Akleh and all the other martyrs, and collected 4000 trees sponsored by citizens and companies from all corners of the Arab homeland. APN carried out the first planting at the birthplace of martyr Shireen Abu Akleh in Beit Haninah concurrently with a symbolic planting in the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, and the second planting in Beit Jala- Bethlehem governorate, while the second station after Jenin will be Gaza- God willing.

The campaign emerges under the umbrella of the program “One million trees” launched by APN in 2001 in Palestine, which has succeeded to date in planting 2.6 million fruit-bearing trees. More than 30 thousand Palestinian farmers benefited, where the aim is to achieve food sovereignty and food security. This is the strategic vision of APN, supported by friends and members who sponsored trees, from Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain in this campaign in particular
