The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature launched the "Strengthening the Resilience of Women's Agricultural Projects" initiative in the Gaza Strip in partnership with the Gaza Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Platform (GUPAP). The initiative aims to support 45 women in Gaza to resume their agricultural projects in light of the faltering of these projects and the interruption of some of them due to the harsh economic and social conditions. This is especially after the recent Israeli aggression, which caused huge losses and unprecedented damage to the agricultural sector (1 June 2021).

The initiative provided various in-kind grants to enhance the resilience of livelihoods for a group of women who run small or medium-sized projects, ranging from plant production, animal production, food processing,  fishing, and beekeeping through the Forum of Urban Agriculture Entrepreneurs, which GUPAP manages.

The initiative, which comes in the wake of trying conditions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, will contribute to the sustainability of these projects and support local production in light of the marginalization of the women's entrepreneurial sector in Gaza.
