Razan Zuayter, the Chairperson of the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature, was elected as a member of IUCN’s Commission on Environmental, Economic and Social Policy (CEESP), serving until the year 2025.  CEESP supports IUCN's mission of coordinating conservation actions with social, cultural, environmental, and economic justice through knowledge generation and influence mobilization.

The membership expands on the long-standing relationship between APN and IUCN, through which APN has successfully passed resolutions on protecting natural resources and improving accountability measures for environmental crimes committed during conflict, particularly in the Arab region.
