In the first instance of cooperation between Royal Jordanian Airline and APN, the national air carrier celebrated its 59th anniversary, by planting 500 fruit-bearing trees under the aegis of the Green Caravan programme launched by APN in 2003.

The planting took place in Al-Amiriyah area in Al-Jizah district south of the capital Amman, with the presence of the Vice Chairman/CEO of the Board of Directors of Royal Jordan Eng. Samer Majali,  and the General Manager of APN, Mariam Al Jaajaa, and dozens of volunteers from among the company’s employees.

Al-Majali emphasized that this event comes within the sustainability strategy implemented by Royal Jordanian to confront the challenges associated with climate change and to reduce carbon emissions while supporting national efforts seeking to safeguard the environment, increase the green cover, and combat desertification. He added that Royal Jordanian, which is marking its 60th anniversary, considers social responsibility to be an essential part of its national mission and the role which must be performed to serve the local community, where this initiative will provide a sustainable income source for the farmers in that area.

On her part, Al-Jaajaa welcomed the fruitful cooperation between the national air carrier, Royal Jordanian, and APN, within the framework of a vision manifested in the convergence of efforts to confront climate change. She underlined the importance of laying the ground for a participatory and collaborative culture supportive of small farmers while providing them with the production inputs which secure an economic return for landowners while contributing to bolstering our food security and providing the domestic market with essential crops. She congratulated Royal Jordanian for its anniversary and lauded rendering the celebration to be a green one, punctuated by supporting the green spaces in the Kingdom, while also protecting the environment.
