Situated southeast of Nablus, the town of Qabalan, along with Beita and Yatma, played a crucial role in safeguarding the summit of Jabal Sabih from Zionist colonialism. In 2021, the residents of these three towns exhibited remarkable steadfastness, successfully defending the area against land confiscation in the face of fierce confrontations.

In response to the urgent need to bolster this crucial resistance against the surge of settlements in Nablus, APN supported the farmers of Qabalan. Answering their call, we joined forces to defend their lands, which were under threat of confiscation in Area C. A total of 2,200 olive, grape, pomegranate, fig, and citrus trees were planted across an 86-dunum area to benefit multiple families in the town, encompassing a total of 67 members.

Tree planting stands as a strategic tool employed by Palestinians to safeguard their lands against the enforcement of an old land law, as well as to counteract the losses inflicted by settlers who are protected by the occupation army. In the months of September and October 2023, Nablus governorate witnessed the loss of approximately 800 olive trees, which were deliberately uprooted and burned. This region remains a constant battleground for ongoing confrontations with the occupation.
