APN participated in an emergency meeting of the Committee on World Food Security’s Civil Society Mechanism (CSM) Coordination Committee from July 21 to 23, 2014 at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome.

The meeting was held to discuss reforms to improve the CSM’s representation of the global civil society. A detailed action plan was created highlighting the responsibilities of the various structures represented at the meeting. Zuaiter stressed the need of transparency and participation from all civil society groups organization, even smallest organizations. She added that regional balance is necessary in the structures of the CSM.

The CSM Coordination Committee is comprised of 41 people, representing 11 constituencies and 17 regions. Zuaiter represents the West Asia region.
