APN was invited to speak on the first panel at the conference entitled “Civil Society Organizations and a Just Transition in the Middle East and North Africa: Challenges and Opportunities” which was organized by the Arab Reform Initiative and held in Beirut. During the intervention, APN emphasized the need for transparency and cooperation with genuine civil society organizations and affected communities, as well as the significance of country ownership in developing and implementing strategies for a just transition. Other recommendations included supporting the agricultural sector and small farmers by growing productive varieties capable of adapting to climate change as well as preserving and storing local seeds. Moreover, APN stressed the need to address the root causes of climate vulnerability specifically in areas affected by wars and occupation, and to hold the responsible parties accountable, an issue neglected by international organizations in their dealings with our region.

APN takes pride in its ongoing commitment to providing input to regional issues in Arabic to enrich the environmental discourse in Arabic, confirm our alignment with our identity, and actively involve our communities in these issues.
