APN Holds a Seminar to Institutionalize Work with Farmers and the Agricultural Directorate in the Central Jordan Valley | The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature

On Wednesday 1/3/2017, the 'Ahliyeh for Agriculture' organized a meeting between the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN) and the Directorate of Agriculture in Deir Alla, a group of farmers and community members from the area to discuss APN projects including the Green Caravan and the food sovereignty program influencing agricultural policies in the region.  The meeting was attended by APN President Rami Barhoush, founding members Razan Zuayter and Hassan Jaajaa, and APN staff members, who all presented a brief about its efforts in the area. Abdel Kareem Al Shayeb, Head of the Directorate of Agriculture in the Jordan Valley, Mustafa Al Adwan, Director of the Deir Alla office of the National Centre for Agricultural Research, and Samih Hashem from the Ahliya for Agriculture all spoke about both the possibility and the preeminence of creating a strong partnership for collaborative work in the area. The meeting allowed for the exchange of thoughts and ideas and confirmed the potential for APN to expand its work in the Deir Allah area. The meeting also saw the formation of a small committee led by farmers and APN in order to follow up and proceed with the ideas discussed.
