APN was invited to speak about the impacts of the Zionist genocide on Palestinian women at the launching of the “Primer on Militarism, Women, & Resistance”, organized by the Asia Pacific Research Network (APRN) and the Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law, and Development (APWLD) on 26 March 2024.

During the presentation, APN shed light on the suffering that Palestinian women have endured for 75 years having been living under occupation that denies them the right to self-determination and exposes them and their families to various forms of severe and systematic discrimination and violence. This violence is intensified during the ongoing genocide in Gaza which has martyred over 9,000 women due to deliberate killing and lack of access to healthcare.

Inspired by the unwavering resilience demonstrated by Palestinian women, APN highlighted the pivotal role they played in resistance movements, from fighting the British mandate to Israel’s colonialism, occupation, and apartheid. APN refuted the Western narrative that portrays Palestinian women as powerless and hopeless, instead honoring the courageous warriors behind the scenes that APN works with – the women farmers, fishers, and pastoralists – who risk their lives every day to provide food for their families and communities.
