The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature had organized a concert for the Lebanese singer May Nasr to raise funds to replace trees in the Palestinian territories that have been bulldozed by Israeli forces, and in support of a campaign to plant one million trees in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, according to organisers.

The campaign, launched in 2008 by the APN, has so far succeeded in planting 150,000 trees in lands in Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip that were either demolished by Israeli forces or are currently under the threat of confiscation."

The concert seeks to merge art and environment and use music and singing to support a national cause and raise awareness about environmental threats," Head of APN Razan Zuatter said.Proceeds of the concert, which is being promoted in Syria, Lebanon and Palestine, will go towards funding our campaign.Tickets for the event are being sold for JD5 and JD10, while the cost of planting one tree in Palestine is JD5, which means that the buying a ticket means planting a tree or two in Palestine.APN President Razan Zeiter said in a press statement yesterday that trees will be planted in the Qatanah village north of Jerusalem and Beit Lahia in Gaza.

Qatanah is under the threat of being confiscated by the Israeli government, while Beit Lahia was completely destroyed during the Israeli military aggression against Gaza in early 2009.
