After much effort and preparation, APN embraced the Environment Zone at the New Think Festival. The festival took place between 5-6 September 2014 at the King Husain Business Park. Nearly 13,000  people attended the festival during the two days, mostly young people and students between the ages of 15-35 years.

The Environment Zone had new themes this year which highlighted environmental issues in fun and innovative ways. The first day began with an interactive theatrical presentation inspired by stories from the public under the title "Our Forests at Risk.” The activity highlighted the problems of deforestation in Jordan with reference to what happened with the forests of Birqesh.

Then, the focus was on the need to shift to new methods that rely on solar energy to provide electric power generation in the session "Kilo Watt.Hour". In "Think and Conserve Water", a success story from the town of Shajraa in Ramtha on water harvesting was shared. Audience members were instructed on some of the methods of water harvesting and reuse that can be applied at the household level.

APN shed light on the problems of throwing waste into the sea in a session called “The Sea is Ours” by presenting a theatrical sketch that illustrated effects and some solutions for this problem. The first day of events was concluded with a session on "Architecture and Environment" where architectural ideas contributing to energy saving and minimal use of resources were shared.

On the second day discussions were held between a team from APN and farmers from the Jordan Valley in a session under the name "Develop Your Nation Through Farming".  The discussions shed light on the marginalization of agriculture in Jordan by comparing the current situation to past decades when Jordan was self-sufficient due to the cultivation of wheat. The dialogue was summarized visually with the sketching of a cartoon comparing the modern reality with that of the past. The following session "Nuclear Reactor" debated the damages of nuclear reactors and the need to begin using alternative renewable energies in the form of rap show. In the session “Let’s Plant Gardens!" attendees were given simple explanations of traditional farming methods and instructed how to plant simple gardens at low costs. Attendees were also involved in the cultivation of small plants during the session. The "Inventions and Energies" session presented a range of interesting scientific experiments presented to define the types of energy and emissions of carbon dioxide. In the last session, "Creations out of Waste" a short film about success stories regarding recycling and the re-use of materials and trash was showcased.APN presented a mural piece at the festival representing care and concern for the environment. When the event concluded Zuaiter and Mr. Maher Kaddoura, the Director of the New Think Festival, unfolded the artwork that was designed in the shape of a tree and was constructed with waste from the festival.   more photos: https://
