During the first session on Understanding the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Board Member Razan Zuayter made an intervention stressing that stopping the bloodshed is a precondition for development in the Arab World.

APN was invited to participate in the Third session of the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development on 29-30 May 2016, organized by UN ESCWA. The Forum is a high-level meeting intended as a primary regional platform to discuss coordinated implementation and follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Arab region.

And she also intervened during the third session on the importance of having standards on the role of civil society as far as implementation and follow-up are concerned, to avoid using this platform in political disputes rather than developmental programs.

During the session on Key Regional Development Challenges APN General Manager Al Jaajaa stressed the need to develop a regional strategy for food security and agriculture in order to implement the 2nd goal of the Sustainable Development Goals. She also insisted that civil society and the public sector should act together to ensure that regional needs are given space in international policy platforms.
