APN asks participants to use the Arabic language during Forest Week activities in the Arab Region | The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature

A delegation from APN participated in Forest Week for the Near East, which was held in Amman in the period between January 26th and 28th.

The activities were sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. The conference was attended by many environmental activists and civil society organizations as well as representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture.

Conference participants discussed ways to support the management of forests and grasslands.

They also exchanged information about the value of goods and services provided by ecosystems, adaptation to climate change, sustainable use of resources, the development of forest genetic resources, monitoring the situation of national forests, as well as the most prominent global issues related to forests.APN intervened during the forum when they requested that organizers and specialists to use the Arabic language in their presentations and discussions in order to promote the participation of the local community who should have access to benefits related to the topics that were raised. APN volunteers Ahmed Garabuli and Lamis and Noor Abu Aziza presented the group’s activities as well as its products at the CSO booths of the conference.
