APN has joined a series of activities launched by the National Jordanian Campaign-in which the organization is active- in protest against the proposed natural gas deal with Israel. The campaign’s activities marking Jordan’s Independence Day on May, 25th have called on the government to abandon the deal.

Activists in the campaign sent out congratulation cards to the cabinet and parliament members on the occasion wishing them to protect the nation’s independence and sovereignty and reject dependency on the Zionist enemy by importing its natural gas. A sit-in protest in front of the parliament building, joined by a number of parliament members followed to affirm that Jordan’s energy independence upholds its sovereign decision, reminding that a parliament majority has voted asking the government not to go ahead with the deal.

A number of participants shaped a picture of how Jordan and its citizens will look on 2020 Independence Day should the deal be finalized, which will place the country’s energy resources in the hands of Israel that can turn off such an energy source with a click.
