On November 24, APN participated in a meeting of the Advisory Committee of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) to prepare for its 47th Plenary session to be held in February 2021. This session will monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Framework for Action for Food Security and Nutrition in Protracted Crises (FFA).
APN and the Arab Network for Food Sovereignty led international civil society in the three years of negotiations over the FFA, consistently advocating for the interests of those enduring protracted crises.
APN general manager Mariam al-Jaajaa, in her capacity as the coordinator of civil society’s working group on protracted crises at the CFS, provided comments on the texts that will be presented at the Plenary session.
She urged CFS to go beyond monitoring the FFA’s use and create a plan to ensure its implementation. She also called for the CFS to include civil society more fully in the proceedings. The meeting was attended by representatives of governments, international, regional and technical organizations.
