The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature launched , the “People Led Research Training” (PRT) workshop on November 23rd, 2021, along with the Asia Pacific Research Network (APRN) and the Arab NGO Network for Development (ANND), in cooperation with the People's Coalition on Food Sovereignty (PCFS). This workshop was attended by members of civil society organizations in West Asia and North Africa.

During her opening remarks, Mariam Al Jaajaa, general manager of the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature, welcomed more than 25 participants, who represent the different civil society  organizations scattered across  West Asia and North Africa. She also encouraged them to make the most of the five-day training held throughout November 2021.

Al JaaJaa considered this workshop to be an important initiative in emphasizing that people-led research as a model and approach enhances the ability of civil society organizations to influence policies and enable them to conduct advocacy campaigns.

The People Led Research Training workshop aimed to introduce participants to the basic principles of research writing, and taught them how to differentiate between the  different methods of data collection and analysis, identify appropriate research methodologies, and work on research based on people's opinions, after acquiring the skills that will make it easier for them to apply in their communities and organizations.
