APN, in collaboration with the “Asia Association for Environmental Development”, carried out planting activities across several areas of the southern Jordan Valley as part of its ongoing efforts to support farmers and advance sustainable agricultural development.
A total of 900 fruit trees were planted for seven farmers in Ghor es-Safi, including 145 pomelo trees, 55 guava trees, 280 Murcott trees, 320 key lime trees, as well as 50 clementine trees and 50 kumquat trees.
Another activity involved planting 326 citrus trees in the northern Jordan Valley for seven families supporting 60 individuals, across 8 dunums, in collaboration with the Northern Jordan Valley Agriculture Directorate.
The initiative aims to enhance farmers’ living standards by providing a sustainable, long-term source of income, thus reducing poverty and unemployment in the area. At the same time, our efforts lend to climate mitigation through increased vegetation cover and lower carbon emissions.
This initiative comes as part of the Green Caravan programme launched by the APN, which works to create a lasting impact for farmers, by boosting agricultural livelihoods, strengthening food security and sovereignty, expanding green spaces, and supporting local production.
