23 November 2024
During an agricultural activity organized by APN in Ma'an to plant the land of the martyr Maher Al-Jazi's family, APN Chairperson Razan Zuayter called for us to bow in reverence and rush to our tools to plant sacred olive trees in his land. She continued, Maher Al-Jazi' sacrificed his life for the dignity and honor of all Jordanians, from all backgrounds and origins.
Zuayter affirmed that since its founding 22 years ago, APN has continued to plant trees in Jordan and Palestine, demonstrating that sovereignty over the land is a pathway to achieving political sovereignty.
The agricultural activity saw the participation of 35 volunteers who stood hand in hand to plant 550 olive and stone fruit trees to honor the memory of the martyr.
The volunteers, alongside the martyr’s family, gathered with a unified spirit, holding the seedlings in their hands and planting them with hearts full of gratitude to the martyr’s sacrifice. His family thanked APN and the volunteers, expressing that this initiative is more than just a volunteer act; it symbolises a deeper sense of solidarity and gratitude. Planting the land of martyrs embeds their legacy within the soil. As loving hands touch the earth, the life-giving essence of those who have passed in the spirit of honor and loyalty emanates from the land.
Participants emphasized that this initiative is not just about planting trees. It sends a message that is carried in the roots of seedlings which calls us to reconnect with the land and strengthen the unifying force of agriculture as a means to achieve dignity and food sovereignty.
