In commemoration of the International Day for Disaster Reduction, APN participated in a training session organized by the Kuwait Environment Protection Society. The session brought together leaders and experts from 24 Arab civil society organizations to share recommendations aimed at empowering youth and enhancing their role in disaster reduction.
APN General Manager delivered a lecture on the impact of wars and settler colonialism on the environment and food security, highlighting the aggression on Gaza and the weaponization of food against its communities, which led to famine. She discussed APN's response efforts and redefined steadfastness as the ability to address the root causes of disasters and prevent risks rather than endure them.
Participants emphasized strengthening youth roles in relief efforts by encouraging volunteering, forming local youth teams trained for rapid emergency response, and launching community projects that improve infrastructure with sustainable techniques to adapt to the impacts of natural disasters.
