APN | Amman – Zoom
23 September 2024
APN was invited to take part in the "Forward Our Future: Summit for the Rural People's Development Agenda”, organized by the People’s Coalition on Food Sovereignty (PCFS). This summit served as a counter-platform to the United Nations "Summit of the Future", dominated by profit-driven corporations and imperialist powers competing for control. The event aimed to shed light on the struggles of rural and oppressed communities and to showcase grassroots efforts toward genuine sustainable development through advocacy and campaigns.
APN's presentation focused on their work advancing food sovereignty through programmes like the Million Tree Campaign, which has been instrumental in replanting trees and restoring agricultural livelihoods in Palestine. Additionally, APN highlighted the "Revive Gaza's Farmland" project, which combats the war of starvation and famine in Gaza imposed by the Israeli occupation.
APN also introduced the Rural People's Development Agenda on Food, emphasizing the need to support and prioritize local food production, advocate for small farmers, and demand an end to the war crime of using starvation as a weapon of war.
