APN Advocacy and Research Officer, Lisa Shahin, delivered a lecture for a graduate research lab at the Institute for Resources, Environment, and Sustainability (IRES) at the University of British Columbia. Shahin focused on the weaponization of food in Palestine, outlining Israeli tactics that aim to dismantle the agricultural sector and create dependence.
She then discussed APN’s work as a green resistance movement to counter these tactics, highlighting the Revive Gaza’s Farmland project. The project aims to rehabilitate Gaza's agricultural sector, counter the blockade, and combat famine.
The lecture sparked thoughtful discussions among students about the connection between food security, resistance, and justice, showcasing how student movements can advance food sovereignty and strengthen steadfastness.
