The Housing Bank has renewed its Diamond Sponsorship of our Green Caravan programme for the sixth consecutive year, reflecting its strong commitment to supporting farmers. This year, the bank has expanded the scope of its support to include a comprehensive range of agricultural and development initiatives aimed at enhancing food sovereignty and supporting farming families in rural areas to develop sustainable livelihoods and greater economic security.
This year's support comprises four key interventions under the “Productive Livelihoods” project, targeting small-scale farmers. These initiatives include the provision of fruit trees and support for the “Green Irrigation” project through the installation of solar-powered water pumping systems, helping to significantly reduce irrigation costs and increase annual household income.
The support package also encompasses the “Productive Beekeeping” project, which provides beehives, production inputs, and specialised training. In addition, laying hen houses will be established, accompanied by feed supplies and technical support, enhancing self-sufficiency and the financial wellbeing of participating families.
