The International League of Peoples' Struggles (ILPS) marked Earth Day by organizing a webinar titled “Environment and Liberation” on April 21. APN was represented by its Advocacy and Research Officer, who emphasized the deep connection between environmental struggle and national liberation in Palestine.
She stressed that the Israeli occupation does not stop at land confiscation, it systematically erases Palestinian environmental memory through uprooting trees, razing lands, and seizing natural resources, describing it as a deliberate form of ecocide aimed at severing Palestinians from their land and destroying their historic relationship with it.
In her intervention, she noted that Palestinian resistance also manifests through environmental and agricultural work, such as APN’s Million Tree Campaign launched in 2000, which recently surpassed the planting of three million fruit trees across Palestine. She also highlighted the organization’s work in Gaza through the Revive Gaza’s Farmland project, launched last year on Palestinian Land Day to counter famine caused by the blockade and aggression. She affirmed that supporting farmers’ steadfastness and rehabilitating the land is a form of resistance and a clear message that the environmental struggle is an integral part of the broader fight for liberation.
