As part of its support for the Green Caravan programme, the Amman International Film Festival has adopted the planting of 426 fruit trees for four farmers across Jordan, including the Jordan Valley, Jerash, and Badr. The planted varieties include stone fruits, citrus trees, and olive trees.
According to environmental estimates based on average carbon absorption rates of fruit trees under similar climatic conditions, these trees are expected collectively to absorb approximately 9,244 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions, through the process of photosynthesis, which is considered one of the key natural mechanisms for reducing the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
The planted trees are also estimated to contribute to the production of around 50,268 kilograms of oxygen as a biological output of photosynthesis, an amount that is often cited for awareness purposes as being sufficient to meet the approximate annual oxygen needs of about 850 people.
This initiative reflects the Festival’s commitment to actively enhancing environmental awareness, supporting local farmers, and encouraging sustainable agricultural practices across different regions of Jordan.
