At the invitation of the Arab International Investor Forum, The President of the Arab Network for Food Sovereignty (ANFS) and the President of the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature, Eng. Razan Zuayter, participated in the preparatory meeting for the World Conference on Women and Sustainable Investment, on September 7, 2021, via Zoom technology, with the elites of legal and leading figures in the Arab world , with the aim of preparing for the conference, and reviewing and discussing the draft of its public domain.

In her speech, Zuayter stressed the priority of having an agreement on a clear definition of sustainable investment, which is the main focus of the conference. According to her, it is based on three dimensions, an environmental dimension, a participatory social dimension, and an economic dimension. An integration between these three dimensions leads to a balance between the different classes of society and does not neglect helping the marginalized.

Zuayter suggested that the committee should allocate a session at the conference, which will be held at UNESCO headquarters next year, to discuss the issue of agriculture and food security, divided into five important areas, namely food security, water, seeds, biodiversity, and Arab agricultural and economic integration. Because these issues have important repercussions that affect the future of the Arab region and its sovereignty over its food, which is closely linked to its security future as well, especially in light of the challenge of the Corona crisis and the crises and conflicts that the region is going through.

Zuayter believes that achieving a successful step on the road to sustainable investment cannot take place without creating an open, democratic, and fair dialogue space that allows everyone to exchange experiences, including civil society, which plays an important role in setting priorities and strategies and determining ways to implement them.

It is noteworthy that this meeting is a preparatory meeting for the conference held by the Arab International Investor Forum, under the chairmanship of the Secretary-General Nazim Al-Sabah and the Board of Trustees and is headed by Dr. Farouk El Baz. The forum is considered the first global platform of its kind, aims to motivate outstanding efforts that support, recognize, and reward sustainable investment. In the Arab region in particular and the world in general, the annual forum brings together more than 1,200 high-level participants from 60 different countries.
