On Wednesday (9th of October), APN signed an MoU with the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development to discuss collaboration between the two institutions to enhance the ability of Arabs to protect and sustain their natural resources and establish sovereignty over them.

It is important to note that the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, signed by its General Manager and former Minister of Agriculture, Professor Ibrahim Al-Dukhairi, is one of the specialized organizations of the League of Arab States, which works in the areas of agricultural development and food security, and has multiple programs and institutional relations in the Arab countries.

Under the MoU, which was signed at APN’s office in Shmeisani, project documents will be prepared regarding important areas within the framework of nature and environment protection, and a series of related forums and workshops will be organized. Razan Zuayter, APN’s General Coordinator, signed on behalf of APN and highlighted the importance of this MoU as it focuses on agricultural projects that serve the principle of food sovereignty. She also stressed that this collaboration will have an impact on the Arab agricultural integration that APN aspires to achieve. The meeting was attended by Rami Barhoush, Chairman of the Board, and Mariam Al Jaajaa, APN’s General Manager, along with Humam Mufti and Hassan Al Jaajaa.

The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development’s delegation included Khalil Abu Afifa, Director of Organizations and Unions at the League of Arab States, and Fidaa Rawabdeh, Head of the Regional Office for the Levant area. It was agreed during the meeting to support the Arab Network for Food Sovereignty, headed by Zuayter, to empowering people to have sovereignty over their food resources in the Arab world. Prof. Ibrahim Al-Dukhairi expressed his pleasure for this partnership, praising APN’s role as a civil society organization that seeks to achieve food security, establish the principle of food sovereignty, and advocate just causes for small farmers. "This partnership will enable us to reach workers in the agricultural sector, so that we can provide them with building capacity services and support them in tackling important issues that lead to the stability and well-being of societies," said Al-Dukhairi.
