APN succeeds in integrating regional priorities into the work plan of the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Hawaii

Being an active member in the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), APN participated in its World Conservation Congress hosted by the State of Hawaii between 1-12 September 2016.

Rehabilitating 50 Dunums of Land, Constructing 8 Water Collection Systems, and Planting 2,500 Olive Trees, completed in Hebron

As part of the third Million Tree Campaign, APN in cooperation with the Land Research Center (LRC), has completed a rehabilitation project to restore 50 dunums of agricultural land, construct eight water collection systems, and to plant 2,500 olive trees in the towns of El Kom and Athna, south-west of Hebron, which is adjacent to the Apartheid wall and threatened by its expansion.

APN signed an agreement with the Palestinian Farmers Union to implement the project, "Revival of the Land" for the cultivation of more than 22,500 fruit trees as part the 3rd Million Tree Campaign in Palestine.

APN and Umniah Plant new 1000 Olive Trees in Wadi Al Qatar

​ Arab Group for the Protection of Nature planted 1,000 olive trees in Wadi Al Qatar, an area that was previously used as a garbage dump but is now being rehabilitated and cultivated with forest and fruit trees that will benefit workers and residents in the area. The activity came within APN's Green Caravan program, with the support of Umniah and in cooperation with the Greater Amman Municipality. ​

APN coordinates Civil Society participation in Reach out Event in Kenya on Food Security in Protracted Crises

As the facilitator of Civil Society Mechanism Working Group on Protracted Crises, APN was mandated to attend and coordinate CSO presence at the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS) Reach out Event on the Framework for Action for Food Security and Nutrition in Protracted Crises (FFA) in Kenya on the 19th of September 2016.

Agricultural Water Collection System Established in the Village of Kafr Al Lubed in Tulkarem

Arab Group for the Protection of Nature, with support from friends of APN in Senegal and in collaboration with the Tulkarem Growers’ Association, a branch of the Palestinian Farmers Union in Tulkarem, established an agricultural water collection system on land owned by farmer Mohammad Mustafa Hussein, which will aid the cultivation on an area of 20 dunums of land.

The One Love Initiative plants joy in Gaza Refugee Camp in Jerash

APN, in collaboration with the "One Love" volunteering initiative, organized an event to cultivate dozens of trees in a nursery in the "Gaza Refugee Camp” in Jerash.

APN Board Member Razan Zuayter was invited by AMEN FM to a Radio interview on Tuesday, September 6th, 2016, on the Nabaad Al Mujtama program (Pulse of the Community) to talk about APN Programs and activities, including the new initiative of Mr. Fares Ghandour and Ms. Shaaban who have donated the monetary gifts they received for their wedding to plant 8,500 fruit trees in Jordan and Palestine, as well as the distribution of sheep and 20 beehives. Meeting of the National Representatives to the IUCN Regional Committee

On August 3rd, 2016, Eng. Razan Zuayter from APN met with members of the IUCN Regional Committee, Dr. Mohamad Majdlawi from the  Jordanian Society For Organic Farming and Eng. Ehab Eid from The Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan, in the presence of IUCN Constituency Administrator  Ola Mallah.A plan was agreed upon to activate the Regional Committee during the IUCN Congress and the coming years.
