APN participates in a Symposium on Restoring Degraded Ecosystems | The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature

APN joined other organizations and groups at the Symposium on Restoring Degraded Systems organized by Jordan’s Royal Botanic Garden in cooperation with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the German Technical Cooperation Office (GIZ), Jordan Environmental Fund (JEF), Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) and the . A number of ecology-related patterns adopted regionally and globally, were presented during the forum’s sessions on March 30th, 2015.

Discussions followed on challenges, and opportunities for the restoration of ecological systems in the Arab region. APN manager Mariam Jaja called in remarks for a stand against policies marginalizing the ecological and agricultural sector in Jordan and the Arab world and for the need to influence global forums that set out the priorities.

She said that the second Sustainable Development Goal focusing on food security and agriculture should be exploited to produce programs that reflect the regions’ real needs. She also noted that it should be important to use the Arabic language in such symposiums so that they reach the various sectors of the people.
