APN seeks to strengthen the capacity of the Arab peoples to sustain the region's natural resources and gain sovereignty over them , particularly in areas suffering from war and occupation.
Providing Drinking Water to Gaza Strip Residents
APN initiated a campaign in 2006 to provide the residents of Beit Hanoon town in Gaza with water tanks. The campaign came in response to an emergency situation following the Israeli bombardment of the town which destroyed drinking water tanks in a number of homes in attempt to make residents' living conditions more difficult.
The project, implemented in conjunction with the Palestinian Agricultural Relief committees, sought to provide 500 water tanks to families in the area. The project, costing $50 thousand, was collected by APN to purchase and distribute the tanks to those in need.
The Israeli attack on the town destroyed significant infrastructure and caused sharp shortages in foodstuffs, health services and drinking water.
