In a series of three events organized by Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN) and held in collaboration with Integrated Technology Group (ITG), 780 fruit trees (olive, pomegranate and citrus) were cultivated in Wadi al-Qatar and Ghor Haditheh.

A total of 500 olive trees were planted during several activities carried out in Wadi al-Qatar, which was previously used a dumping ground for construction waste but has now been rehabilitated and cultivated with forest and fruit trees that will benefit residents and agricultural workers in the area. In Ghor Haditheh, 100 fruit trees (citrus and pomegranate), were planted in the courtyard of the Omar bin al-Khattab mosque, the proceeds of which will go to enhance food security for the community which suffers from extreme poverty. The project has also secured a water tank for irrigation of the trees. In a unique activity, APN in collaboration with the youth club of the Numeira Environmental Association distributed trees to 50 students and poor families in the region.

The events witnessed a mass turnout of more than 200 volunteers of all ages, including from Wardatona al-Quds, the orphanage in the Jerash Gaza refugee camp, Masar Initiative, al-Numeira Environmental Association, and staff from Integrated Technology Group (ITG).

APN President Razan Zuayter added: “This project is part of the Green Caravan program launched by APN with the aim of supporting food security and increasing forest cover in Jordan. This event should been seen as a continuation of efforts to enhance cooperation between various sectors in order to protect Jordan’s natural resources, which is the responsibility of all parties.”On the occasion, Mr. Walid Tahabsom, president and manager of Integrated Technology Group (ITG) said: “This initiative falls within the framework of corporate social responsibility which is a key principle within ITG. Preservation of the environment is one of the most important pillars of this framework.”
