APN was invited to participate in the 3rd National Environmental Student Conference organized by Al-Radwan Schools and Ministry of Water and Irrigation.

The slogan was "My environment is my responsibility" and the title of the activity was "Water of our country is for us and our children".

Students of several private and public schools and environment officials in Jordan participated in the conference. Conference documents covered several topics among which are water use and management in Jordan, strategic projects, their cost and impact on water resources. 

According to APN Water Engineer Mohammad Qtaishat, who was present at the event, it was encouraging to see youth get exposed to such topics at an early stage. The papers presented by students needed more research (e.g. s no mention of statistics of Ministry of Water and Irrigation) but it was still an important opportunity to hear all viewpoints on debatable issues such as the erection of a nuclear reactor in Jordan.

Several recommendations were concluded among which are the immediate stop of overuse of ground water, issuance of new water legislations and laws that follow social, economic and political changes, conduct sustainable environment and water studies for areas of refugee camps, spread awareness on issues of water efficiency, develop school curriculum and introduce environment awareness topics to include environment challenges and possible solutions.
