Madaba – In celebration of Global Earth Day, APN collaborated with ARAMEX and Madaba Municipality for the "Let's plant Madaba" initiative on Saturday, April 26th, as part of the Green Caravan Campaign, that aims to plant 1,000 fruit and wood trees in various areas of Madaba Governorate.

Members of Madaba Community, APN and ARAMEX volunteers, and students from Amman National School, Abu-Obaidah School and Al-Rashad Schools volunteered to cultivate plants in Madaba.

Around 200 volunteers were involved in the initiative.

APN, in coordination with Madaba Governorate Directorate of Agriculture and Madaba Municipality conducted a field visit on April 8th, 2014 to select sites for cultivation.

This was followed by two visits on 21st and 23rd of April for the delivery of seedlings and tools for cultivation to the sites before the event.APN launched a month-long e-campaign that included digital images and posters in order to promote the initiative.

It reached more than 5,000 users. Seedlings were cultivated in a number of locations in Madaba, namely: The Christ Mosque, Hanina Church, the Church of St. George- Mae'een, the Red Crescent Society, a nursing home, four schools (Abu-Obadiah School, Al-Rashad School, Khawla School and Madaba Secondary School), a number of major roads in the province, and Ahmad Qutaish Park.

A ceremony was held to honor the organizers and volunteers. 

APN signed an agreement with the Madaba Municipaltiy to ensure the sustainability of the seedlings that were planted so that the municipality will be obliged to water and care for the seedlings.
