|Rehabilitating 50 Dunums of Land, Constructing 8 Water Collection Systems, and Planting 2,500 Olive Trees, completed in Hebron|
As part of the third Million Tree Campaign, APN in cooperation with the Land Research Center (LRC), has completed a rehabilitation project to restore 50 dunums of agricultural land, construct eight water collection systems, and to plant 2,500 olive trees in the towns of El Kom and Athna, south-west of Hebron, which is adjacent to the Apartheid wall and threatened by its expansion.
|APN Organizes First Food Security in Protracted Crises Event at UN Headquarters in New York|
On Wednesday 13th July, APN organized a side event, entitled “Addressing Food Security and Nutrition in Protracted Crises” at the ECOSOC High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development being held at the UN headquarters in New York between 11th-20th July, 2016.Rami Barhoush, president of APN, chaired the meeting which welcomed distinguished speakers from the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) Secretariat, Al Mezan Center for Human Rights, Al-Haq, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), as well as APN Advocacy Officer Heather Elaydi.
|ANFS and APN speak about the Right to Self-determination in the Philippines|
APN and the Arab Network for Food Sovereignty (ANFS) were invited to participate and speak in a series of events in Manila and Davao, Philippines between 21_30 July 2016. The meetings were organized by the People’s Coalition for Food Sovereignty (PCFS), the International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines (ICHRP), the International Conference for Peoples’ Rights in the Philippines (ICPRP) and the Philippines –Palestine Friendship Association (PPFA).
|APN Launches the ‘Revival of the Land’ Project|
APN signed an agreement with the Palestinian Farmers Union to implement the project, "Revival of the Land" for the cultivation of more than 22,500 fruit trees as part the 3rd Million Tree Campaign in Palestine.The project targets the cities of Jerusalem, Salfit, Tubas, Jericho, Tulkarm, Jenin, Ramallah, Bethlehem, Hebron, and the Gaza Strip. It aims to increase the income of farmers and enhance steadfastness especially in lands threatened by confiscation.The first activities for the "Revival of the land" project were launched in partnership with the Right to Land Coalition and the Stop the Wall Campaign.
|APN and Umniah Plant new 1000 Olive Trees in Wadi Al Qatar|
Arab Group for the Protection of Nature planted 1,000 olive trees in Wadi Al Qatar, an area that was previously used as a garbage dump but is now being rehabilitated and cultivated with forest and fruit trees that will benefit workers and residents in the area. The activity came within APN's Green Caravan program, with the support of Umniah and in cooperation with the Greater Amman Municipality.
|APN coordinates Civil Society participation in Reach out Event in Kenya on Food Security in Protracted Crises |
As the facilitator of Civil Society Mechanism Working Group on Protracted Crises, APN was mandated to attend and coordinate CSO presence at the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS) Reach out Event on the Framework for Action for Food Security and Nutrition in Protracted Crises (FFA) in Kenya on the 19th of September 2016. The framework was endorsed by the CFS in October 2015 after a three-year negotiation process that involved states, civil society and private sector, as well as international and regional organizations.
|APN Organizes an Outreach Event for Volunteers|
APN organized an outreach event for volunteers to familiarize them with APN programmes and possible ways to contribute to them. The workshop was held in Al-bayouda – Al Salt/Subaihi on Friday, September 2nd, 2016.APN board member Ms. Lubna Irshaid explained the different projets carried out by APN and the importance of consistency in engaging volunteers in the present and future activities in order to achieve APN’s goals.
|The One Love Initiative plants joy in Gaza Refugee Camp in Jerash|
APN, in collaboration with the "One Love" volunteering initiative, organized an event to cultivate dozens of trees in a nursery in the "Gaza Refugee Camp” in Jerash. The trees were donated by Sanabel Landscape Design and Services to create a happy and healthy environment for the children. The event was attend by its GM, Eng. Hassan Jaajaa. As in previous years, APN actively participated in Amman’s "Souq Jara" held on Rainbow Street on Fridays between the months of May and September. With the help of many young activists, APN sold creative products designed by volunteers to raise funds which will support the planting of more than 500 trees in Jordan and Palestine.

APN Board Member Razan Zuayter was invited by AMEN FM to a Radio interview on Tuesday, September 6th, 2016, on the Nabaad Al Mujtama program (Pulse of the Community) to talk about APN Programs and activities, including the new initiative of Mr. Fares Ghandour and Ms. Shaaban who have donated the monetary gifts they received for their wedding to plant 8,500 fruit trees in Jordan and Palestine, as well as the distribution of sheep and 20 beehives. APN Board Member Razan Zuayter was invited by the Jordanian Association of Exporters and Producers of Vegetables and Fruits and the Chamber of Commerce in Amman to participate in the Jordanian Agricultural Conference on the 6th of September 2016.The Conference focused on four main themes: The impact of policies related to import and export of vegetables and fresh fruit on guiding production; agricultural marketing; sources of agricultural finance and its impact on production; and agricultural employment.APN intervened to address the representative of the Prime Minister for Economic Affairs

On August 3rd, 2016, Eng. Razan Zuayter from APN met with members of the IUCN Regional Committee, Dr. Mohamad Majdlawi from the Jordanian Society For Organic Farming and Eng. Ehab Eid from The Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan, in the presence of IUCN Constituency Administrator Ola Mallah.A plan was agreed upon to activate the Regional Committee during the IUCN Congress and the coming years.
