In May 2017, Ms. Razan Zuayter, President of the Arab Network for Food Sovereignty, digitally participated in the Gaza Forum for Urban and Peri-Urban agriculture. Ms. Zuayter expressed the importance of future cooperation between the network and the forum, and spoke about the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature’s 15-year experience in development and relief projects in the Gaza strip; the Million Tree Campaign has planted over 408,393 fruit trees in addition to other projects including the provision of water tanks and fishing nets, and the construction of water wells and greenhouses.

In addition, the policies and procedures that contribute to enabling the protection of national agricultural products were discussed and there was a fruitful exchange of knowledge regarding urban agriculture and methods for supporting Palestinian food markets. This is particularly important in Gaza, where the food market has witnessed tremendous losses as a result of the decade-long Israeli blockade. Approximately 100 organizations, experts, and agricultural stakeholders attended the meeting.
