APN reshaping the relationship between the tree and the mother | The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature

APN launched a mother’s day campaign in the month of March while trying to create a relationship between the tree and the mother within the campaign’s activities. The campaign began with a series of lectures and workshops that were offered to school students as part of the If You Know Campaign that is focused on information about the environment and its problems in Jordan and Palestine such as drought, desertification, and water pollution. 

Lectures were given at several schools (Amman Baccalaureate School, Modern en School, Amman  National School, Arab Model School,  National Orthodox School, Manhal School , Al Itihad Schools , Al Raed Al Arabi School, Spring Hill International Schools). The campaign lasted for three weeks and 13 lectures were given to students of all ages at these schools. A group of volunteers from APN participated in the lectures and these include Bilal Hijeer, Ghazi Maraka, Yousef el-Habash, Maha el-Huwaidi, Yazan Abu Jabbarah, Ahmad Gharabli , Sonia Ziadeh,  Roseanne Khalifa, Mohammed Qteishat, and Farah Qaddourah . The lectures saw significant interaction by students.Along with this awareness campaign, volunteers and students participated in Bazaars in schools and hotels where APN products (mother’s day gifts), most notably greeting cards in the name of a person’s mother with proceeds going to planting trees in Jordan and Palestine.APN launched two events for planting 600 trees in public parks in Dulayl and Sweileh involving students and their mothers, allowing them to apply the practical agricultural information that they learned in the If You Know Campaign lectures.

Preparation for the campaign began in the first week of February. The committee for mother’s day activities was made up of APN volunteers such Ms. Dana Jadallah, Zina Mushahwar, Lubna Ershaid, Itidaal Shbeilat, Susan Ayoub and Fatima el-Jamali.  The committee helped facilitate the process of communication between APN and schools. The committee coordinated with schools and volunteers to make the lectures and bazaars successful.
