APN Plants 770 Fruit Trees in the Central Jordan Valley in Collaboration with the Safwa Islamic Bank, the Jordan Ahli Bank and Bank ABC | The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature

In support of food security and providing smallholder farmers with a sustainable source of income, APN organized a number of voluntary activities with the Safwa Islamic Bank, the Jordan Ahli Bank and Bank ABC to plant 770 fruit trees in the Al Wadi and Ruweiha areas of Deir Alla and Ghor Al Mazra’a. 

In February 2017, 22 scouts from the Radwan Schools planted 50 citrus and guava trees in the Nasiba Bint Kaab School in the Ghor Al Mazra’a area. The trees were sponsored by Safwa Islamic Bank and planted in collaboration with Masar for Tourism and Development and the Al Namira Environmental Group.

On the first of April 2017, the Green Caravan headed to farmer Harbi’s land in Al Wadi – Deir Alla to plant 300 lemon and passion fruit trees donated by Bank ABC and planted by a group of its employees.  On the 6th of April, the Green Caravan planted 200 lemon trees on farmer Abdel Ghanem’s land in Ruweiha – Deir Alla with the help of Jordan Ahli Bank employees and in collaboration with Al Ahliyeh for Agriculture.   On the 25th of May, 2017, APN celebrated Jordan's Independence Day by donating 170 lemon, pomelo, and guava trees in the Ruweiha region of the Jordan Valley with the aim of empowering small farmers and improving their level of food security.

The trees were donated by Safwa Islamic Bank and planted by 50 volunteers from the Jordan Engineers Association (in Al Zarqa) and the activity was coordinated in collaboration with Mr Samih Hashem, director of Al Ahliya for Agriculture.
