APN Calls for a Careful Study of the Regulatory Framework of Land Use       

During a meeting of environmental groups with the agriculture minister Ibrahim Al-Shahahdeh, APN stressed the importance of studying the regulatory framework of the land use and protection, especially the agricultural land.

Taking part in the meeting on April 29th, 2019, APN’s general manager Mariam Al-Jaajaa proposed organizing a consultation to define the challenges, and weaknesses in this area. She called for involving the civil society in such a consultation to come up with recommendations for action.

The meeting appeared to be an all-male open discussion. Noting that, Al-Jaajaa objected to the fact that female participants did not have the opportunity to engage in the discussion and asked organizers to reconsider this matter. Prospects of Cooperation on Development Issues with Birzeit UniversityAPN’s co-founder Mrs. Razan Zuaiter has discussed a role for APN in a project on alternative development due to be launched by the Palestinian Birzeit University.

Mrs. Zuaiter met for this purpose on March 2nd, 2019 with a representative of the university’s Development Studies Center Dr. Linda Tabbar.  Regional Consultation on Climate Change in Lebanon APN attended the Regional Consultation on Climate Change on the 21-22 March 2019 which was organized by the League of Arab States and ESCWA in Beirut, Lebanon.

The consultation was joined by more than 120 officials from Arab States and senior representatives from national, regional and international institutions. APN manager Mariam Al jaajaa insisted during the meeting on the importance of examining the complex relationship between conflict and vulnerability to climate change. She stressed that communities suffering from conflict have reduced adaptive capacities to climate change. She added that communities bearing rapid natural resource depletion are often at risk of conflict and require further assistance. The suggestion was taken by the outcome document which was to be presented at the 2019 Arab Forum for Sustainable Development and the High-Level Political Forum at the UN House in New York. Innovation Award Winners Celebrated APN’s founding member Hassan Al-Jaajaa has taken part in an event celebrating winners of Abdul Hameed Foundation’s Innovation Award.APN was requested to take part in an evaluation process of the projects nominated for the award. The event was held at the Innovation Center of the Arab Bank in Amman on March, 31st, 2019. 

Welfare Association DayThe Welfare Association invited APN to join in the activities of the Welfare Day organized by the Agency on April 18th, 2019 in Amman.The event was called to discuss the latest global trends in sustainable development in order to work more effectively in Palestine, especially within various fields of digitization, information technology, resource development and communication. It also aims at creating an open dialogue to help develop Welfare Association’s strategies and programmes.APN’s founder Mrs. Razan Zuaiter said in her intervention during the ‘Strategic Partners’ session that she wished the Welfare would expand its partnerships with civil society organizations to achieve common goals. Meeting with the New Regional IUCN Director APN met with Mr. Hany Al-Shaer, the new regional director of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). They welcomed him on assuming his responsibilities and discussed with him future cooperation. The meeting was held at APN’s premises on March 26th, 2019.
