In response to the frightening international silence that has completely disregarded the horrendous crimes against essential human rights in Yemen, The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature launched an appeal demanding immediate action against the ongoing military campaign.

The appeal, addressed to the UN Secretary General, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the FAO Director-General, the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food, and the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to health, was signed on by 58 local, regional and international civil society organizations. The appeal was delivered to the office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen and the current UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Jordan.

As a result of the campaigning of human rights and civil society organizations, the Human Rights Council has finally issued a resolution on Friday 29th of September mandating the High Comissioner to establish a group of international and regional group of experts to investigate human rights violations in Yemen.

The decision is an essential step for bringing justice to millions of innocent Yemeni civilians. The decision is also a major victory and an element of hope for civil society organizations that have campaigned against the treacherous breaches of international human rights. It is further proof that we are only triumphant when we stand strong and united for peace and the realization of humanitarian law.
