APN attended several local meetings in April- June  including meetings for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and the Jordanian Federation for Environmental NGOs as well as workshops on Pesticides Residues in Jordanian Produce and on Accountability Mechanisms for International Financial Institutions.

Meetings of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature

• In April 2017, as a member of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN)’s National Committee, APN , through Advocacy Officer Zeina Fakhriddin attended a meeting to discuss an active strategy to strengthen communication and collaboration between all committee members. This included the formation of an easily accessible electronic database consisting of member information, as well as the emphasis on the importance of collaboration with the IUCN regional committee to expand the base of knowledge and expertise and widen the scope of work on regional environmental issues. 
• In an effort to further encourage cooperation between IUCN members, the West Asia North Africa Institute held another meeting in May 2017 to discuss sustainable development and the newly drafted Regional Environmental Governance Charter that aims to unify regional efforts to address environmental violations across Arab countries.
• As a member in the Regional Committee of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, Ms. Razan Zuayter attended a meeting on 8/6/2017 where committee members agreed to enhance cooperation and mobilize regional efforts to boost effective involvement in the Union.

APN Attends a Workshop on Pesticide Residues in Jordanian Produce 

In May 2017, APN Advocacy Officer Zeina Fakhriddin participated in a workshop on “The Role of Stakeholders in Monitoring Pesticide Residues in Agricultural Produce” held by the Jordanian Engineers Association. A panel of experts from universities across Jordan, the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Center for Agricultural Research and Extension, the Ministry of Environment and the Local Center for Chemical and Agricultural Testing spoke about their roles in actively monitoring harmful chemical residues in Jordanian vegetables. 

The Workshop on Accountability Mechanisms for International Financial Institutions

In May 2017, Ms. Razan Zuayter was invited to attend a workshop on “Accountability Mechanisms for International Financial Institutions” organized by the Phenix Center for Economic and Informatics Studies. Ms. Zuayter spoke about the importance of forming unified policies across international financial institutions, and the essential need for accountability, and not merely about project details as proposed by the workshop. 

The General Assembly of the Jordanian Federation for Environmental NGOs

APN Manager Mariam Al jaajaa attended the General Assembly of the Jordanian Federation for Environmental NGOs on 16 of April 2017 . The meeting reviewed the Federation's accomplishments and financial report of 2016 as well as the budget and proposed projects foreseen for the year 2017.
